Literacy close to home: rural education in Haryana

Haryana’s education landscape is uneven. District headquarters can feel well served while a village a short drive away still depends on a single government school and the energy of its teachers.

Literacy is more than enrolment. It is the ability to read a form, follow a textbook, and imagine a future that is not limited by the first job on offer.

The Foundation’s Memorandum speaks of rural schools, curriculum books and literature, and the recruitment of teachers. That remains the compass for its education work.
